A Final Message from the Headteacher - 21st July 2017

Dear All,

Here we are at the end of another academic year. Each year they seem to be going quicker, but that may be a sign of my age! I am so proud of the children’s successes this year, from sporting accolades to academic achievements to awards undertaken outside school. It never ceases to amaze me what a talented and hard working bunch of children we have here at St. Paul’s.

We are finishing on a high in terms of our attainment and progress. The Local Authority have named us as a Category 1 school, based on their monitoring and our results. Y6 and Y2 had good SATs results, and Y1 did extremely well in their Phonics test.

But for me, it’s not just about end of year results; it’s about progress from all children’s starting points, and developing a life long love of learning. Our Growth Mindsets work this year has been really successful in creating an ethos where children feel safe and confident to have a go at all activities, regardless of how challenging they deem them to be. Children confidently talk about the strategies they use to help them tackle tasks and are much more resilient.
I hope your child has enjoyed this year, and is looking forward to exciting adventures with their new teachers next year.

May I wish you and your families a wonderful summer break, and I’ll see you in September!

Best Wishes,

Mrs Hankinson

    Wonder Dome - 16th May 2017

On Tuesday, KS2 children had a chance to visit the Wonder Dome in school it was a massive hit. All the children loved the experience inside the dome learning about the solar system. Here are a couple of quotes from our Y5 reflection work.

‘The wonder dome, which was as dark as the midnight sky. Dennis showed us the wondrous planets of the solar system’

‘It blew our minds when we found out that all of the stars move except the north star. The wonder dome is DEFINITLEY worth it; we learned more information than ever before!’

Dennis taught us about the stars, planets and the galaxy/Universe. He explained that even though the sun might be a huge star, it is nowhere near as huge as Betelgeuse and some said that in a billion years, Earth would be devoured by the fiery sun. However, Mars while no one ever set foot on – will be the new world of life.’

Afternoon Tea with Revd. Judith - 19th October 2016
In celebration of ‘Thank the Vicar Week’ this week, the Christ Club children invited Rev. Judith for Afternoon Tea on Wednesday afternoon.
“I had the most lovely surprise last week when the postman brought me a beautiful crafted invitation to Afternoon Tea, from the 'Christ Club' at school.
It was raining when I arrived at school for my treat!  I was welcomed most warmly by Mrs Hankinson and all the children from the 'Christ Club'. I was seated at the top of the table which was laden with crisps, sausage rolls, and the most gorgeous looking cupcakes.  We all enjoyed our tea and we all talked about what the children did when they attended the club.  From writing prayers leaning about others less fortunate than ourselves. Looking to raise money for charity.  After we had eaten the club members were given small gold crosses to wear, and after I had blessed them each of them pinned on their own cross. It was a most enjoyable afternoon and before I left someone from each class came and gave me a very large thank you card from their class.  They were all just so lovely and most of them were covered in glitter and buttons.  All individual, all different just like them.  We had lots of photographs taken and before I finally left for home I received a lovely bunch of flowers.
All this was to say thank you to me for looking after them in school and for teaching them about Jesus.   It was a real privilege to be there for them and it is a real privilege to be part of the St Paul's School Family.”

Welcome! - 6th September 2016
Welcome back to all our children and families after what I hope has been an enjoyable summer holiday. All the children have come back to school ready and eager to learn, and look so smart in their new uniforms. In assemblies this week we have been talking about new starts and our wishes for the new academic year, and the children have agreed that they will come to school on time each day in full school uniform having the things they need for that day – please support your child in helping this to happen. We are thrilled to welcome our new children in Reception and look forward to seeing them settle in and enjoy their new adventures. Mrs Hankinson.
